Project description

Montreal Casino

Opal, granite gray and anthracite Avenue pavers covering a 25 ,000 sq. ft. Area

The Chips are In!

It’s already four years since major renovations began on the Montreal Casino. It now offers its clientele an urban style, an avant-garde décor and more space between gaming areas.

Outside, the designers reorganized car and pedestrian venues. The bus port is gone, replaced by landscaping with opal-white and anthracite-coloured pavers. All traffic now flows through a single access point.

The facility was upgraded to express current trends without forgetting the site’s history. The waterways and basins of Expo 67 have regained their prominence in the new environment. “We are proud to have successfully restored the character of the Expo 67 pavilion which in part makes the Montreal Casino unique around the world and gives it its truly original personality,” said Claude Provencher, founding partner of Provencher Roy + Associés Architectes. The Casino is now a locus for Montreal culture and creativity.

This $305.7 million project is an exception to the rule. A generous R&D budget was allotted to design and test new materials, structures and lighting.
